Trauma-aware practice
Do I need horse experience?
Not at all. Every session happens on the ground, and you’ll be guided gently the whole way through, whether it’s your first time near a horse or your hundredth.
What age is Equine Facilitated Learning for?
One-to-one EFL sessions are open to ages 8 and up. Cuddle Sessions have no age restriction at all.
Is this therapy?
ZenFoal offers experiential learning, not psychotherapy. That said, many clients find real, lasting benefit from it, the sessions are trauma-aware and person-centred, shaped around what you need on the day.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes for the weather and sturdy, closed-toe shoes, boots or runners both work. Layers help, since we’re outdoors by the lakes regardless of forecast.
Can I come if I'm nervous around horses?
Absolutely, this is often exactly who a session is for. We move at your pace, and the herd is genuinely used to meeting people who are new or unsure.
Is it physically demanding?
No. It’s mostly gentle walking and quiet time. Let us know in advance if you have mobility needs and we’ll adjust the session accordingly.
What safeguarding is in place for younger clients?
I’m trained in Child First (Tusla) national safeguarding guidance, and every session with a young person is planned with that in mind from the start, not treated as an afterthought.
How do I book a session?
Get in touch through the contact form, email info@zenfoal.ie, or message ZenFoal directly on Facebook or Instagram, whichever’s easiest for you.
Still Have a Question?
No question is too small. Reach out and we’ll talk it through before you book anything.
